St. Louis, Missouri (TND) — Following Nelly’s arrest outside a casino in the St. Louis area, a 12-minute video from a police dashboard camera has surfaced – although the moment of the rapper’s arrest cannot be seen on it.
Part of the video shows police escorting Nelly out of the Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights before approaching a patrol car. His hands are outstretched in front of him, his wrists handcuffed.
The rapper then leaves the camera view together with the officers. The officers chat for a while and then leave the casino.
Most of the video – about 10 minutes – just shows the officers driving.
Nelly, 49, whose real name is Cornell Haynes II, was arrested at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 7 in Missouri for possession of four Ecstasy pills and no insurance, police records show. He was taken to the Maryland Heights Police Department and later released.
Police confirmed that Nelly had a summons for a traffic offense on the day of his arrest.
The arrest came nearly four months after Nelly and his fiancée, R&B star Ashanti, announced that Ashanti was pregnant with Nelly’s baby.
According to PEOPLE, Nelly has two children, including a 26-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son. He also helped raise his nephew after his sister Jackie Donahue died of leukemia in 2005.
Nelly and Ashanti each rose to fame in the 2000s with their own careers. Ashanti was often called the princess of hip-hop and R&B, while Nelly was best known for his popular hits “Country Grammar,” “Hot in Herre,” and “Dilemma.”
Nelly has won three Grammy Awards, including one for “Hot in Herre,” another for “Dilemma,” and a third for “Shake Ya Tailfeather.” He also has nine Billboard Awards.
Ashanti’s eponymous debut album won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album in 2003. The album was later certified triple platinum in the US.
