Ghanaian actor John Bredu Peasah, better known as Drogba from the television series “YOLO”, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $280,000 for essential medical treatment abroad.

In March 2024, Drogba was diagnosed with a condition called demyelination. This condition affects the nervous system, which can lead to problems with vision, coordination and sensation.

Unfortunately, his condition has worsened and he now suffers from sleep apnea, which means he needs an oxygen mask to breathe. He also shared that the cost of his ongoing treatment has severely depleted his resources, requiring him to seek additional financial support for further treatment outside Ghana.

“I would like to thank my family and friends (especially you) and the Vice President of Ghana for the numerous donations and gifts I have received. Unfortunately, I am not responding to treatment and have spent almost all my funds, which are now almost exhausted.
This fundraiser is necessary to finance my expensive treatment abroad, which includes specialized care by experts in pain medicine, physiotherapy, psychology, occupational therapy, biofeedback and care in the pain rehabilitation center. In particular, I need help to cover the costs of admission, medical treatment, IVIG therapy (which is particularly expensive) or plasma exchange,” he wrote on Instagram.
