MIAMI GARDENS – The Miami Dolphins will host the Washington Commanders for a joint workout at Baptist Health on Thursday morning, two days before the second week of the preseason.

Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Jalen Ramsey challenge Jayden Daniels, Austin Ekeler, Terry McLaurin and Bobby Wagner.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, an offensive genius, and Washington coach Dan Quinn, a defensive guru, will showcase their skills in practice.

Washington had a 4-13 record last season and was pretty bad at pretty much everything.

Here are the duels worth watching between Dolphins and Commanders

Washington QB Jayden Daniels vs S Jevon Holland

We know it’s Daniels, the rookie and No. 2 overall pick, against Miami’s entire defense. And we know Daniels may have to use star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. But we’ve seen Holland take advantage of the youth of opposing quarterbacks before, and we see at least one interception in Holland’s future.

Dolphins CB Kendall Fuller vs. Commanders WR Terry McLaurin

It’s possible that McLaurin will be covered by another cornerback like Ramsey. But Fuller played for Washington last season and we suspect he’d like to get some targeting on his former teammate and the Washington Post’s best wide receiver.

Dolphins C Liam Eichenberg vs. Commanders DT Jonathan Allen

Eichenberg is Miami’s center, at least until Aaron Brewer returns. Brewer is week-to-week with an apparent hand injury. So how does Eichenberg stack up against Allen and Daron Payne on the interior? Those players are a strength of Washington’s defense, which ranked 32nd in the NFL last season.

Dolphins LT Patrick Paul vs. Commanders DE Dorance Armstrong

If rookie Paul gets into Pro Bowler Terron Armstead’s lineup, Armstrong should pose a real challenge. If you’re not familiar with Armstrong’s game, the Commanders gave him three years and $33 million to leave the Cowboys because he totaled 16 sacks over the last two seasons.

Dolphins beat Chop Robinson against Commanders RT Andrew Wylie

Chop often charged at opposing right tackles while playing at Penn State. We hope the rookie and Maryland native is healthy enough to practice and play this week. Wylie has missed a few practices due to muscle tightness. According to Pro Football Focus, Wylie allowed eight sacks and 34 pressures last season.
