Game dev sim “Let’s Build a Dungeon” announced for PC and Xbox consoles, beta registrations possible

developer Springloaded Software announced today that their latest multi-layered game development sim, Let’s Build a Dungeon, will be coming to PC and Xbox consoles via Steam (wishlist available!); an official release date has not yet been announced. Players will run their own game studio and build a virtual MMO for the masses. Not only do you have to keep your players happy, but you also have to keep a studio running!

More information about Let’s Build a Dungeon can be found below. Beta sign-ups are available for PC – just visit the developer’s official website to find out more. This game is coming to PC and Xbox in partnership with Kowloon Nights and the game will be playable at the Xbox booth at gamescom.

Independent development studio Springloaded, best known for the successful simulation title Let’s Build a Zoo, today announced a new multi-layered management simulation set in the world of game development. Let’s Build a Dungeon invites players to run their own game studio and develop a virtual MMORPG for hordes of heroes. This creative management simulation is coming to PC and Xbox and can be wishlisted now on Steam.

Let’s Build a Dungeon takes Springloaded’s long history of creating deep yet accessible simulation games and introduces a new game studio environment to deliver a management simulation like no other. Players run a fledgling game studio as they develop an MMORPG that will satisfy the ever-growing player base – while keeping investors happy and the development team doing their jobs.

Features:

  • Design and build an MMO that can be filled with hordes of virtual players
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a game studio, from hiring and firing to investor satisfaction
  • Attract new virtual players by expanding the world, designing new quests, and monitoring players’ journeys.
  • Progress in the campaign to develop new items, environments and mechanics
  • Play a playtest anytime to see the world through a player’s eyes
  • Combine quest styles for endless replay value
  • Create a bespoke RPG world with thousands of elements or design custom assets
  • Have difficult conversations with shareholders, employees, players and publishers to make important decisions that impact the success of the studio.

As all game developers know, a studio doesn’t run itself! Recruit staff, rent an office, manage project deadlines, negotiate with shareholders, pitch to publishers for investment, and perform many other important tasks. Transform the company from a struggling indie studio into a development powerhouse in a humorous but true-to-life portrayal of the current gaming industry. Let’s Build a Dungeon combines meaningful decision-making with deep management simulation gameplay, inspired by lessons learned from Springloaded’s last 12 years as an independent studio.

There are many sensible (and sometimes ethical…) decisions to be made. Players can choose to force longer hours to meet deadlines, or ignore pressure from investors to protect the development team. Will the studio develop a monster-catching RPG, a cozy farming simulator, or a brand new experience that combines elements from multiple genres? By designing quests, building environments, and creating custom assets, players can create the ultimate RPG that meets the needs of their audience while also managing the sometimes ridiculous challenges of running a studio.

Let’s Build a Dungeon is now wishlistable on Steam and Springloaded is inviting players to sign up to be among the first to play when the beta launches. Sign up now at LetsBuildADungeon.com.
The game will be released in collaboration with Kowloon Nights for PC and Xbox. More information about the features will be announced during the Xbox livestream at gamescom on August 21st. Let’s Build a Dungeon will also be playable at the Xbox booth at gamescom.
