Weld County intersections receive stop signs to keep drivers safe

Four intersections in Weld County – near Kersey, Firestone and Fort Lupton – are getting new stop signs to improve driver safety, according to an Aug. 12 Weld County news release.

The Weld County Public Works Department recommended the signs to improve safety and increase visibility at the four road intersections. All four roads are maintained by Weld County.

Roads receiving new traffic controls include Weld County Roads 54 and 51, which are southeast of Kersey. The T-intersection will receive a stop sign to stop eastbound traffic on Weld County Road 54.

Apache Road at Del Camino Lane, in the Casagrande Estates development near Firestone, will also receive a new sign. A sign will be installed at the intersection to stop eastbound traffic on Apache Road.

According to Weld County, Paden Avenue in the Peaceful Acres neighborhood of Fort Lupton, south of Fort Lupton High School, will receive new stop signs at two intersections.

The intersection of Paden Avenue and South Park Avenue will receive two stop signs to stop northbound and southbound traffic along South Park Avenue.

The intersection of Paden Avenue and McKinley Avenue will receive a stop sign to stop westbound traffic from Paden Street onto McKinley Avenue.

The planned stop signs are to be installed in the coming weeks. According to officials, the cost of manufacturing and installation is $1,250.

The board also approved keeping a four-stop sign intersection west of Eaton at Weld County Roads 74 and 31. Increasing traffic on east-west Road 74 prompted the county to build a roundabout further east, at the intersection of Road 74 and Weld County Road 33.

The county administration said the intersection of Routes 74 and 31 will remain a four-stop intersection until the nearby roundabout is completed in 2026.
