Wialon equips four million IoT-connected vehicles

Wialon, the global fleet management, GPS tracking and Internet of Things (IoT) platform, has announced that it has reached a milestone: fleet management services are of “utmost” importance to businesses as they form the “backbone of operational success”. The company noted that it has connected four million vehicles in 160 countries to the platform.

Founded in 2001 and developed by European software developer Gurtam, Wialon provides fleet management software services through a network of over 2,700 distribution partners in more than 160 countries.

The software platform helps connect, track and monitor vehicles and assets, from heavy-duty and light-duty trucks to public buses, agricultural vehicles and equipment, construction vehicles and equipment, energy generators, fuel tanks and garbage trucks, to name a few. Wialon processes five billion data points daily and is on a mission to help fleets leverage big data to increase productivity, optimize fuel consumption and improve driver safety and sustainability.

The fleet management software suite is vehicle, sensor and device agnostic and scalable for both small and large fleets, allowing users to track their operations on a unified platform. The software suite can be used in fleets ranging from small fleets with less than 50 vehicles to large fleets with more than 1,000 connected vehicles. Wialon’s technology and numerous integration options cover over 3,500 device models for data collection and GPS tracking.

To demonstrate the tremendous growth of its industry, and in particular the connected vehicle sector, Wialon announced that the number of connected vehicles it works with has increased tenfold in nine years – from 400,000 in 2015 to four million in 2024.

“Fleet management solutions are of utmost importance to companies as they form the backbone of operational success,” said Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Head of Wialon. “Year after year, we see increasing use of telematics and a greater emphasis on safety and data analytics, which supports efficiency and sustainability in fleet operations.

“We still remember the excitement when we reached our first 400,000 vehicles in 2015. It took us nine years to add three more zeros to that number. Who could have imagined how far we would come by starting small and dreaming big? As we move toward our next milestones, we are committed to improving our services to help the Wialon partner community grow and thrive. We know this will be an exciting journey.”

The company that provided the groundbreaking four millionth vehicle connection was GotYou Telematics, a partner of Wialon since 2017.

The South Africa-based company is a provider and integrator of security services for fleet management, helping customers from a wide range of industries manage and protect their transport assets.

“If you know how to use the platform’s extensive features to drive your customers’ success, the sky’s the limit,” said Aldo Gerber, Founder and CEO of GotYou Telematics. “Today, we are excited to be part of the international Wialon family and to have connected the four millionth vehicle to the platform. It’s a great feeling to contribute to such an impressive achievement that underlines Wialon’s global leadership in fleet management software.”
