Las Vegas police union threatens to stop working at Raiders games

A new NFL security policy that will soon go into effect has prompted the Las Vegas Police Protective Association to raise the alarm and suggest that there will be no police officers at Raiders games when the new rules go into effect.

The policy in question requires matchday staff to submit biometric data, including a facial image, via an app before being granted full access to the stadium.

Las Vegas Police Protective Association President Steve Grammas issued a statement on the changes, stressing that the crux of the issue for the union is that collecting this information from staff in this way could result in the data “falling into the hands of people who are anti-police and have a different agenda than those who support law and order.”

The union successfully opposed a liability waiver that employees would have to sign at future games at Allegiant Stadium, but Grammas is not optimistic that an agreement can be reached to prevent the NFL from collecting biometric data from employees working at games.

Negotiations are currently ongoing between the NFL and the Las Vegas Police Department. As the policy’s launch date approaches, more news is expected.
