It continues to rain in Toronto, overnight it could turn to wet snow

According to Environment Canada, Toronto is expected to experience heavy rains mixing with or turning into wet snow overnight into Wednesday.

In an updated special weather report for the city, the Federal Weather Service said Toronto could expect another 10 to 15 millimeters of rain on Wednesday evening.

“In areas away from Lake Ontario, rain will mix with or become wet snow this evening,” the US weather agency said late Wednesday.

Only about two centimeters of snow are expected.

The Greater Toronto Area experienced almost nonstop rain on Wednesday as a spring storm brought wet and gusty weather.

Toronto Pearson International Airport said it was experiencing flight delays on Wednesday due to weather. Inbound and outbound flights between Toronto and some U.S. East Coast airports, including New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, were delayed on Wednesday, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter.

According to the forecast, the gloomy spring weather will continue until the weekend. Sunshine and daily maximum temperatures between -15 and -25 degrees are expected for Saturday and Sunday and until the beginning of next week.

Water level in city increased due to rain: TRCA

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) said in a statement on Wednesday that all shorelines, rivers and streams in the GTA are considered “dangerous” and should be avoided due to changing and higher water levels, adding that rain in Toronto has soaked the ground and raised water levels.

The water level is expected to decrease, but will probably remain above normal in the coming days, the nature conservation authority said.

The combination of slippery banks and cold water temperatures will create dangerous conditions near bodies of water, it said. No widespread flooding is expected, but ponding could occur in low-lying areas with poor drainage.

Children and pets should be kept away from river banks and motorists should avoid driving through underpasses with deep water.
