Prince William sent his widow Tracey a letter of condolence on Kensington Palace stationery. The letter was read out at his funeral.

He wrote: “We can only begin to imagine what a huge void he will leave in your lives and my sincere condolences go out to you and your family.

“Catherine and I really enjoyed meeting Pete.

“We know that Pete was an extremely dedicated and highly valued member of the community, which was evident in the response to his death.

“I wanted you to know how much we are thinking of you and your family during this time.”

Kate and Wills met Peter, from Ebbw Vale in South Wales, when they spent £127.50 on 12 pizzas from his converted VW van in April last year.

They distributed a selection of margarita, pepperoni, BBQ chicken and goats cheese pizzas to the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team during a visit to Dowlais Rugby Club in Merthyr Tydfil.

At the time, Peter said: “They were really PrettyWhen I founded the company, I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams that one day I would Future King.”

Pete founded Little Dragon Pizza Van in 2016.

He had beaten esophageal cancer, but four months after becoming king, doctors discovered the disease in his adrenal gland and liver. He died less than a year later, but the business continues.

Major sign that Princess Kate ‘could return to public life next MONTH’ proves she is ‘obviously doing much better’, says royal expert

William’s letter will be framed for Pete’s daughters, ages eight and five.

Tracey, 40, told The Sun: “It was a massive surprise. I don’t even know how they found out Pete had died. It may have affected them because Kate is undergoing treatment.

“He said how far Earth they were.

“We received so many letters from people who loved Pete, but the one from William and Kate was very special.”
