Disney confirmed that the Indiana Jones and “Encanto” attractions will officially replace DinoLand, USA in Animal Kingdom.
After years of teasing new possibilities, Disney has now officially announced that DinoLand, USA in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be replaced with a “Tropical Americas” themed land, complete with attractions based on Indiana Jones and “Encanto.” The area will open in 2027 and will be set in a fictional place called Pueblo Esperanza, which means “Village of Hope.”
Indiana Jones ride at Animal Kingdom
Dinosaur – the jeep-like roller coaster at Animal Kingdom that debuted at the park in 1998 – will be themed to the world of Indiana Jones.
While Dinosaur uses the same ride system as Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland, this new attraction tells a different story than the classic attraction.
“Encanto” ride at Animal Kingdom
A ride based on Encanto will be located in the Madrigals’ Casita. Unlike the Indiana Jones ride, which repurposes an existing attraction, the Encanto ride will be an entirely new attraction.
“In the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift – the ability to communicate with animals – and his room has been transformed into a rainforest,” said Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s time to go exploring with him, and you never know which family member you might encounter…”
When will DinoLand close?
Parts of DinoLand, USA will be gradually closed starting in fall 2024.
